Our Public Works Director met with the Selectmen to go over different projects they are doing.  He is going to be working together with Fred Farnham to secure a residence in the Chicopee area.

The Board met with a representative from Business Equipment Unlimited.  They talked about business equipment here in the town, our service agreement, and putting all our copiers and printers together on one contract.

John Myers and Dave Anderson met with the Selectmen to talk about some computer updates coming up by the end of this week, and whether we want to keep what we have or go onto another program.  Dave and John are going to get answers to some questions the Selectmen have and by the end of the week the Board should have an idea about what it is going to do.

  • Review of Correspondence
  • Email from Power Engineers, Inc. – Re:  Rescheduling the Public Information Meeting on the CMP transmission line rebuild to August 4.
  • Selectman Emery read a message from the American Red Cross about a critical need for blood donations

  • Review of Projects and Issues
Selectman Santolucito complimented everyone who was involved in Community Days.  He said the Fire Police did a great job, the Fire Department was well-represented, he saw some people from the Transfer Station there, the fireworks were great and he thought it was a good day.  Selectman Santolucito said Tashia Pinkham and the whole team did a great job.

Selectman Harmon mentioned walking in the parade and cheering Selectman Santolucito on in the road race.  She said there was a resident issue on Monday that she believes was resolved satisfactorily.  She said she has been in the office checking the mail and said Selectman Emery has called several times so they do not forget issues that are coming up.  One of the issues they discussed was going in to the attorney’s office to go over a couple of land issues the Board has.  She said the Board will be setting the tax rate and filling out reports.

Selectman Booker said she has not been in much lately.  She came in and looked at payroll the other day and has had discussions with different Department Heads about several items going on.  Our Accounts Payable Clerk is working on the electric rates spreadsheet and has that almost done.  Selectman Booker has also been monitoring OTT.  Those rates have not gone down yet but they are telling us they should go down next month.

Selectman Burns met Tuesday with one of the West Buxton Library Trustees about several issues that we are addressing.  Yesterday he met with Chet Ouellette to follow up on the meeting they had with the people who will be putting in new thermostats.  They also discussed turning down the boiler during the summer to save money.  Apparently a proposal was sent to Chet Ouellette, and Selectman Burns but neither of them received it, so the proposal is supposed to be hand delivered this Friday to Chet.  Selectman Burns said when they get that they will sit down and take a look at it and put a proposal together.

Selectman Burns said he has also been doing the research on chairs for the Selectmen’s Office.  He said he physically checked them out and sat in them to make sure they are safe.

Selectman Emery contacted a company to look at removal of a mobile home and probably the garage on a town owned lot on Old Orchard Road then had them stop up and look at the old town garage to get an idea of what’s the best way to take that down and dispose of everything.  Selectman Emery said once the Board gets the proposal on the mobile home he will meet with that company and the Public Works Director and go to the old town garage.  They will open the building up so they can walk through and see what the job consists of so they can give the Board an idea of what that is going to cost us.  Selectman Emery said the town raised a certain amount of money for demolition and he is confident it is going to be enough because they will be using the town trucks to haul the materials off.  He said we need someone to take off the old roof and dispose of that and this company does that.

  • Old Business
Demolition of old Town Garage

Davis Road in Chicopee – Selectman Harmon and Selectman Booker have agreed to go in and talk with our attorney about what the town is going to do with Davis Road.  Selectman Emery said the Board is going to do something with it before winter but they just don’t know right now how they are going to get where they want to go with that.

  • New Business
On behalf of the whole Board, Selectman Emery thanked all the people who worked on Community Days.  He said that is not just Department Heads but individuals and people who volunteered for non-profit organizations in town who were at the event trying to earn some money so they don’t have to come to the town for money to run their programs.  He said a lot of people donated their time and the Recreation Director did a fine job.  It is a lot of work to put it all together and coordinate everything.  He thanked Public Works for doing a great job along with Fire, Fire Police.  We had a lot of Fire Police from Gorham and he said that went great.  He said everything went smoothly and our own Police Department did a great job.

Selectman Emery said he talked with Department Heads and sometime in the next couple weeks they will get together as a group to get a good assessment of how each Department Head felt Community Days went from their perspective, and to address concerns anyone may have had on that.
